Networked Students

This is one of those “viral” videos on the internet. It paints a picture of one vision for learning in the 21st century. What do you see as the upsides/downsides of such a model?

What a simple but clever method for relaying a load of information about how education is changing.  I particularly loved the description of a teacher.  We are accustomed to being learning architects and modelers, but I love the creative analogies of the ever-increasing roles we have as “learning concierge” and “network sherpa.” That’s a really thoughtful analogy because just as we educators have lots of experience climbing our own Mt. Everests in the classrooms, each climb requires us to still value every team member of the group (no matter how inexperienced) to reach the common goal.  As the weather and climate change, we must be able to adjust.  Most importantly, we must relinquish the lead at times and give each participant the lead on the path (while we carefully watch--albeit sometimes warily) .
