Do you need a face lift?
A presentation face lift, that is…
Here is a terrific presentation on how PowerPoint presentations can be made more effective.

I’m a bit ashamed to acknowledge how often I abused PowerPoint in my former life as a classroom teacher (a fancier version of the trusty standby--the overhead). The theory of cognitive load makes much sense when one considers the facts presented; students can either listen or write, but few can do both well simultaneously.
I’m eager to check out some of the sites referenced as I, too, find clipart relatively passe.
I think the components of this presentation would make an oustanding Summer Academy workshop. Looking at the sites referenced would be extremely valuable and using this content to create or refine a Powerpoint would be beneficial.
While looking at your own presentations, Randy, I am amazed at the photos and audio you are able to mingle and often wonder, “How do you make this happen?”
I think this is an interesting topic. I will definitely use this to help my students improve their projects.
To be honest, I’ve shown a lot less slide shows this year than last year. I still have the slide shows from past years. I am still teaching the same topics. I just spend a lot less time conducting whole group teacher-led instruction.
Now that I have the smartboard and laptops, students have more resources to lead their own learning. They are now driving the instruction and sharing what they learn. We work in small groups towards the learning goals. My role has really changed.
