How Dangerous is the Internet for Children?

New York Times Technology Columnist David Pogue writes about the Internet and child predators, calling it mostly over-hyped by the media.

How Dangerous is the Internet for Children?

He suggest parents (and educators) watch the recent PBS Frontline program Growing Up Online. “In any case, watch the show. You’ll learn that some fears are overplayed, others are underplayed, and above all, that the Internet plays a huge part in adolescence now. Pining for simpler times is a waste of time; like it or not, this particular genie is out of the bottle.”

Quote of the day…

I ran across this quote this morning…

“The aim of argument, or of discussion, should not be victory, but progress.” ~Joseph Joupert

Hope you are all having a good holiday break!

Question

When thinking about technology, teaching and learning, a good question to ask:

“Pedagogically speaking, what can I do now that I could not do before?”

Louise,

Congratulations! I know the amount of time and energy this degree requires. Nice work.

Supervision

I will call Mary Anne concerning the possibility of the Supervision Workshop. After I get feedback from her, I will let you know if she recommends the workshop for us. If so, I will send a hard copy of the Supervision Workshop.

Beginning to blog

I put this blog together in response to our last Admin goals meeting. I think blogging can be an excellent collaborative tool. There is no better way to learn about the potential of this technology than to participate. You can post something original, and you can comment on the posts of your colleagues. It’s really that easy!

I started blogging almost two years ago. Blogs can also be a place to share other resources on the web. So here is the link to my blog. I enjoy going back now and then to read some of the things I’ve written. I haven’t blogged here in a while...there goes the issue of time.  gulp I look forward to seeing how we grow as administrators through the use of these technology tools.  grin
